The Opportunity

We are looking for a Scheduling and Operations Officer to manage and conduct the scheduling and operations functions for the applicable vessel size(s) in the Atlantic in accordance with the freight strategy developed and set out by the Freight Portfolio and  Operations Manager. The position is required to ensure that freight coverage and cargo commitments are effectively matched and optimized in order to maximize earnings potential within the portfolio

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity to provide best practice operational performance and administration of chartered vessels to meet customer requirements and achieve RT Marine plans and performance targets. Vessel operations are to be conducted in accordance with agreed business practice and in house system requirements. Working a 5 days on, 2 off roster and reporting to the Manager Operations Atlantic, you will:

  • Execute the SCHEDULING activity for RTM in order to optimize the value of the Portfolio
  • Manage obligations with Customers and Suppliers and deliver on expectations
  • Ensure the portfolio is in compliance with PM and Rio Tinto guidelines at all times – COMPLIANCE
  • Ensure a smooth and cost efficient operation of vessels demonstrated by chartered vessels arriving on time, to specification and meeting customer’s expectations
  • Deliver and maintain high standards of customer service to the business units demonstrated by customer feedback and responding to customer requests within agreed timeframes
  • Post fixture work ensuring all work is performed within target expectations.
  • Demonstrate and model strong team focus by delivering on agreed outcomes, adhering to RT Marine policies and procedures
