Qualifications:

• Compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, & Sims Metal Management safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous industrial front end loader operating experience preferred.
• Must be able to pass Sims Metal Management required loader training.

Summary Description

Operates front end loader equipped with front mounted hydraulically powered bucket or forks to lift & transport bulk materials and vehicles to & from storage or processing areas, and to load trucks. The operator will be assigned to the vehicle de-polluting process and responsible for de-polluting vehicles. Operator will be placing vehicles on a rack 7 feet high to be processed and entering and exiting loader 20+ times a day to assist with vehicle processing.

Objectives:

Car Processing:

• Adhere to all safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements as per Sims Metal Management Car Processing Job Hazard Analysis.
• Perform Pre-Job Inspection on De-Polluting Rack, tools, equipment, and hydraulic shear before staring car processing operation.
• Perform pre-stage for all vehicles to go on De-Polluting Rack, such as removing batteries, wheels, CFCs, and mercury switches.
• Upon completion of pre-stage, set vehicle on De-Polluting rack for fluid evacuation and catalytic converter removal.
• Use 25lb hydraulic shear to remove all cats from the vehicle.
• Upon completion of evacuation stage, remove car from De-Polluting rack and stockpile the vehicle in order to be crushed with using the front end loader with forks attachment.
• After vehicles are processed, cars must be put into car crusher to be crushed with front end loader.
• Maintain constant housekeeping throughout the day in the car processing area.
• Ensure all tools are cleaned and stored away at the end of each shift.
• Ensure all processing paperwork and pre/post job hazard analyses are accurate, completed, and submitted to management at the end of each shift.
