The Opportunity

Rio Tinto Borates (U.S Borax) are looking for a Development Specialist for the Mexico, Central and South America (“territory”) based in a home office located within Houston, TX or Miami, FL area. This position directly contributes to the market development and technical support activities for customers of U.S. Borax’s agricultural line of products; identifies market/customer needs for U.S. Borax products in new and existing markets; works in close collaboration with customers, sales, marketing, and production facilities; participates in research, analysis and experimentation on borates for product development; participate in product sales strategies and objectives in the territory aimed for growth.

Rio Tinto’s Energy & Minerals group includes a diverse portfolio of high-quality mining, refining and marketing operations and projects that contribute to the daily lives of people around the world. Our Energy assets include four thermal and coking coal operations in Australia, two uranium operations in Energy Resources Australia and Rössing Uranium in Namibia, as well as a uranium project in Canada. What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity to play a critical part in achieving the commercial strategies of the business. You would be responsible for: 

  • Maintaining a safe environment and acting safely at all times.
  • Developing key relationships with agricultural customers and relevant industry personnel
  • Providing technical support and training seminars to customers
  • Coordinate research and innovation programs for development projects and lead new product trials at customer and university locations.
  • Developing key relationships with functional departments within RTM (Customer Service, Marketing, R&D, Operations and Logistics) in order to meet objectives, communicate and resolve issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.

Experience3-10 years of progressively responsible experience in a technical support sales capacity in the Agricultural industry (Crop nutrition, crop protection)
