The latest Index readings highlighted ongoing weakness across the regional scrap market, extending the bearish trend observed in recent sessions.

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): As of Wednesday, June 24, 2026, North American scrap metal prices continued their downward trajectory on the ScrapMonster Price Index, with several key scrap categories posting further declines from the previous trading day. The latest Index readings highlighted ongoing weakness across the regional scrap market, extending the bearish trend observed in recent sessions.

Only Steel scrap prices held steady over the previous day’s prices. All other scrap categories recorded a decline.

  • Copper: Further dips in clean grades extended the weak trend

  • Aluminum: Recorded decline across all listed grades

  • Brass/Bronze: Widespread decline across key categories

  • Stainless Steel: Saw a broad decline across all grades

  • Steel: Flat trend, with no change in prices


Copper Scrap Prices

Alternator scrap prices edged lower by $0.01 per lb compared with the previous trading day.

Among copper grades, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper-Light Copper each fell by $0.18 per lb.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% Recovery) and #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% Recovery) posted declines of $0.04 per lb apiece.

Copper Radiator scrap prices weakened by $0.07 per lb, while Copper Transformer prices slipped by $0.01 per lb. Cu Yokes also moved lower, shedding $0.02 per lb.

Prices for Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators, and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe remained unchanged as of June 24, 2026.

Harness Wire (35% Recovery) and Romex Wire each lost $0.04 per lb, whereas Heater Cores recorded a decline of $0.03 per lb.

Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units, and Xmas Lights all registered modest decreases of $0.01 per lb from the previous day’s levels.


Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap markets also witnessed downward pressure, with 1100 Scrap prices falling by $0.01 per lb.

Prices for 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 5052 Scrap, and 6063 Extrusions each declined by $0.01 per lb. Likewise, 6061 Extrusions slipped by $0.01 per lb compared with the prior day.

Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe traded flat during the day.

Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, and Breakage 50% Recovery prices remained stable on the Index as of June 24, 2026.

E.C. Aluminum Wire recorded a steeper decline of $0.02 per lb.

Meanwhile, Chrome Wheels, MLC Clips, and Litho Sheets each fell by $0.01 per lb. Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices were unchanged.

Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF also posted declines of $0.01 per lb on the Index.

Steel Scrap Prices

  • #1 Bundle prices remained unchanged on the Index.

  • #1 Busheling continued to trade at prior-day levels.

  • #1 HMS prices held steady without any movement.

  • HMS 80/20 also recorded no change in pricing.

In addition, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel prices remained stable, with no day-on-day fluctuations reported as of June 24, 2026.


Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

Stainless steel scrap prices mostly trended lower on June 24, 2026, with several grades posting modest declines from the previous day.

Prices for 201 SS, 301 SS, and 304 SS Solid each slipped by $0.01 per lb. 304 SS Turnings also registered a decrease of $0.01 per lb compared to the prior trading session.

Among higher-grade stainless steel scraps, 309 SS fell by $0.01 per lb, while 310 SS recorded a steeper decline of $0.02 per lb.

The sharpest drop within the category was seen in 330 SS, which lost $0.03 per lb from the previous day's level.

Meanwhile, 316 SS Solid prices also moved lower, declining by $0.01 per lb on the Index. Overall, the stainless steel scrap segment remained under pressure, with most grades ending the day in negative territory.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region witnessed a decline on the Index.

  • 70/30 Brass Scrap: Down by $0.04 per Lb

  • 80/20 Brass Scrap: Dropped by $0.04 per Lb

  • 85/15 Brass Scrap: Recorded a decline of $0.04 per Lb

  • Brass Radiator: Reduced by $0.04 per Lb

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices recorded no variation from the previous day's price levels as of June 24, 2026.

In the meantime, Red Brass, Rod Borings, and Yellow Brass prices dropped by $0.04 per Lb on the Index.
