North American copper scrap benchmarks recorded modest declines, with #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #3 Copper-Light Copper each falling by $0.01 per pound. All other listed copper scrap grades remained unchanged.
E.C. Aluminum Wire Records a Price Decline
E.C. Aluminum Wire was the only aluminum grade to register a decline, slipping by $0.01 per pound. All other listed aluminum scrap categories, including 6063 Extrusions, Old Cast, Old Sheet and UBC, maintained their previous-day prices.
Steel, Stainless Steel and Brass/Bronze Markets Remain Flat
Steel, stainless steel and brass/bronze scrap benchmarks recorded no day-over-day changes. The stability followed mixed movement in the previous session, with the majority of grades holding their Tuesday price levels.

MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): North American scrap buying benchmarks were largely steady on Wednesday, October 28, with clean copper providing the day's only notable movement on the ScrapMonster Price Index.

#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #3 Copper-Light Copper each decreased 1¢/lb. Also, E.C. Aluminum Wire recorded a fall of 1¢/lb on the Index.

The remainder of the market paused after Tuesday’s mixed movement.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper clean grades recorded a decline on the Index, while all other grades held steady on the Index.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper-Light Copper each declined by $0.01 per lb.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Copper Radiators, and Romex Wire were unchanged.

Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Cu/Al Radiator grades, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Alternators, Starters, Sealed Units and Xmas Lights also maintained their Tuesday benchmark prices.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

All aluminum scrap grades, except E.C. Aluminum Wire, recorded no change on the Index. Meanwhile, E.C. Aluminum Wire prices registered a decline, recording a dip of $0.01 per Lb from the previous day’s prices.

1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 6061 Extrusions, 5052 Scrap and 6063 Extrusions each held steady.

Breakage with 50% Recovery, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF also recorded no variation.

Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, and Aluminum Transformers remained unchanged.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel continued to show no day-over-day movement.

#1 Bundle, #1 Busheling and #1 HMS remained unchanged.

HMS 80/20, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel also maintained their previous-day levels.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

Stainless steel benchmarks remained unchanged after posting declines in the previous session.

304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, 309 SS, 310 SS, 316 SS Solid and 330 SS all maintained Tuesday’s levels, along with 201 SS and 301 SS.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass and bronze scrap prices remained flat across all categories.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator each held steady on the Index.

Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass also remained flat.

Brass Radiator/Fe and Brass Radiator Ends were unchanged from the previous day.
