North American Copper and Brass Scrap Prices Post Gains on the Index- September 9, 2026

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices witnessed an increase of $0.01 per Lb over the previous day.

Summary

Copper prices edged higher: Several copper grades increased by $0.05 per lb, including #1 Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #3 Copper-Light. Insulated copper wire and other grades posted smaller gains.
Brass and bronze scrap also advanced: 70/30, 80/20 and 85/15 Brass, Brass Radiator, Red Brass, Red Borings and Yellow Brass each gained $0.01 per lb. Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends remained unchanged.
Other major scrap categories were stable: Aluminum, steel and stainless steel scrap prices showed no daily change across the listed grades, including 6063 Extrusions, #1 HMS and 304 SS Solid.

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The North American scrap metal prices remained mostly unchanged on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Wednesday, September 9, 2026. Copper and Brass/Bronze scrap prices registered a marginal increase, whereas all other scrap categories held steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of Alternator scrap recorded no variation over the previous day.

The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing increased by $0.05 per Lb. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices were also up by $0.05 per Lb. The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged higher by $ 0.05 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices witnessed an increase of $0.01 per Lb over the previous day. #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices were also up by $0.01 per Lb on the Index. #3 Copper-Light copper prices recorded an increase of $0.05 per Lb.

The prices of Copper Radiator scrap and Romex Wire recorded a jump of $0.01 per Lb each on the Index.

Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Cu/Al Radiators, Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Heater Cores prices were flat over the day.

Also, prices of Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed units, and Xmas Lights reported no variation from the previous day’s price levels.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

1100 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 6063 Extrusions, 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions remained flat when compared with the prior day.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, and Breakage 50% Recovery remained unchanged on the Index.

Also, E.C Aluminum Wire, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF prices held steady.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 Bundle prices remained flat.

The prices of #1 Busheling and #1 HMS were also unchanged on the Index.

HMS 80/20, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel also saw no change in prices when compared with the previous day.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, and 304 SS Turning prices also remained flat compared with the previous day.

309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid prices were flat on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region witnessed an increase on the Index.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator scrap prices were up by $0.01 per Lb on the Index.

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices held steady when compared with the previous day's price levels.

Red Brass, Red Borings and Yellow Brass prices edged higher by $0.01 per Lb on the Index.
