North American Copper Scrap Prices Dip; Other Scrap Metals Remain Stable on the Index- August 27, 2026

The only category to witness variation in prices was copper, whose prices inched lower on the Index.

Summary

Copper scrap prices edged lower: Copper was the only major category to register movement on the North American ScrapMonster Price Index. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright and #3 Copper-Light Copper each declined by $0.02 per lb.
Aluminum and other non-ferrous scrap remained stable: All tracked aluminum grades, including 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast and UBC, recorded no price changes. Brass and bronze scrap prices also held steady across all listed grades.
Ferrous scrap markets stayed flat: Steel scrap prices, including #1 HMS, #1 Busheling, #1 Bundle and HMS 80/20, remained unchanged. Stainless steel prices were similarly stable, with 201 SS, 304 SS, 309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS and 316 SS Solid showing no variation.

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The North American scrap metal prices remained mostly unchanged on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Thursday, August 27, 2026. The only category to witness variation in prices was copper, whose prices inched lower on the Index.

Copper: Marginal decline
Aluminum: Reported no change
Brass/Bronze: Held steady
Stainless Steel: Saw no variation
Steel: Flat trend

Copper Scrap Prices

The price of Alternator scrap remained flat over the previous day. The price of #1 Copper Wire and Tubing declined by $0.02 per Lb. #2 Copper Wire and Tubing prices were also down by $0.02 per Lb. The price of #1 Copper Bare Bright edged lower by $ 0.02 per Lb.

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery were flat on the Index. #3 Copper-Light copper prices recorded a fall of $0.02 per Lb.

The prices of Copper Radiator scrap, Copper Transformer Scrap, and Cu Yokes held steady on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe prices remained stable compared with the previous day.

Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Romex Wire, Heater Cores, Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed units, and Xmas Lights reported no change from the previous day’s price levels.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

1100 Scrap prices remained flat over the day. The price of 3003 Scrap was flat on the Index. The prices of 356 Aluminum Wheels and 6063 Extrusions/Fe were also unchanged.

The prices of 6063 Extrusions held steady over the day.

In the meantime, prices of 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions remained flat when compared with the prior day.

The prices of Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe remained unchanged over the day. Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Radiators/Fe prices held steady. Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices remained unchanged on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF prices held steady at the previous day’s price levels.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 Bundle: No change
#1 Busheling: Flat trend
#1 HMS: Held steady
HMS 80/20: Stable pricing

Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel also saw no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS and 301 SS prices reported no change.

304 SS Solid prices also remained flat over the previous day.

304 SS Turning witnessed no change in prices on the Index.

309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid prices saw no change in price from the previous day’s level.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in the North American region witnessed no change on the Index.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator scrap prices were flat when compared with the previous day’s prices.

Brass Radiator /Fe and Brass Radiator Ends prices held steady.

Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass prices recorded no fluctuation on the Index.
