MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): North American scrap metal prices displayed a mixed trend on the Scrap Monster Price Index on Tuesday, August 4, 2026. Copper and brass/bronze scrap prices moved higher, while aluminum, steel, and stainless steel scrap prices held steady.

Other Copper Scrap Price Moves

Alternator prices were up by $0.01 per Lb
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery prices increased by $0.03 per lb.
Copper Radiator scrap increased by $0.04 per lb.
Copper Transformer Scrap edged higher by $0.01 per Lb
Cu Yokes prices saw a jump of $0.01 per Lb
Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Romex Wire, and Heater Cores increased by $0.03 per lb.

Copper Grades That Held Flat

Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators, and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe showed no change from the previous day.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap prices were unchanged across the major grades tracked on the Scrap Monster Price Index on August 4, 2026.

Flat aluminum grades included 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, 6063 Extrusions, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, Breakage 50% Recovery, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF.

201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, 309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid all held unchanged from the prior day.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass and bronze scrap prices increased modestly in North America on August 4, 2026. Most major grades rose by $0.03 per lb on the ScrapMonster Price Index.
