North American Scrap Metal Price Report: Aluminum Up, Copper & Brass Edge Higher, Steel Slips-November 27, 2025

The prices of Copper Radiator scrap increased by $0.08 per Lb on the Index.

TORONTO (Scrap Monster): The North American scrap metal market recorded mixed pricing trends on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Thursday, November 27, 2025. Aluminum scrap prices posted notable increases across multiple product categories, while copper and brass/bronze scrap registered marginal yet steady gains. In contrast, steel scrap prices experienced slight downward pressure, and stainless steel values remained largely unchanged.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap pricing showed positive momentum, with several grades marking meaningful upward adjustments:

  • #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing climbed by $0.15 per lb.

  • #1 Copper Bare Bright advanced by $0.15 per lb, continuing its upward trend.

  • Alternator scrap and Copper Transformer Scrap increased by $0.01 per lb.

  • #1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% Recovery) and #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% Recovery) improved by $0.05 per lb.

  • #3 Copper – Light Copper rose by $0.15 per lb.

  • Copper Radiators gained $0.08 per lb, while Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe were up $0.05 per lb.

  • Harness Wire 35% Recovery and Romex Wire advanced by $0.05 and $0.04 per lb, respectively.

  • Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units, Heater Cores, and Xmas Lights posted modest gains of $0.01–$0.04 per lb.

  • Cu/Al Radiator Ends held unchanged from the previous session.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap strengthened significantly across nearly all monitored categories:

  • 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, and 6063 Extrusions increased by $0.02 per lb.

  • 5052 Scrap, 6061 Extrusions, and E.C. Aluminum Wire advanced $0.02 per lb.

  • Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe posted a larger jump of $0.05 per lb.

  • Aluminum Radiators, Radiators/Fe, Transformers, and Breakage (50% Recovery) moved up $0.01 per lb.

  • Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF were all higher by $0.02 per lb.

Aluminum remained the strongest performing segment of the day.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel prices displayed stability overall but recorded selective downward movement:

  • #1 Bundle, #1 Busheling, #1 HMS, HMS 80/20, Sheet Metal, and Structural Steel posted no change.

  • Shredded Auto Scrap was the only declining category, slipping $5 per MT.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

All monitored stainless steel categories — including 201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, 309 SS, 310 SS, 316 SS Solid, and 330 SS — remained unchanged from the previous day’s levels.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass and bronze categories continued their upward momentum:

  • 70/30, 80/20, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiators advanced $0.05 per lb.

  • Brass Radiator/Fe gained $0.01 per lb.

  • Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass also strengthened by $0.05 per lb.

  • Brass Radiator Ends were unchanged.

Market Outlook

Analysts note that the broad rise in aluminum and copper pricing may reflect improving industrial demand and tightening scrap supply conditions heading into December. Steel remains pressured by weak mill demand and economic-cycle uncertainty.
