MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): North American scrap metal buying benchmarks were unchanged on the ScrapMonster Price Index on Friday, September 25, 2026, with no daily movement recorded across copper, aluminum, steel, stainless steel or brass/bronze.
The quiet session followed Thursday's modest copper rebound, when several major clean grades gained 2¢/lb. All other major scrap categories have now remained flat for consecutive sessions.

SCRAPMONSTER EDGE
Friday's flat copper market leaves the earlier pullback largely intact. #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #3 Copper-Light fell 11¢/lb on Wednesday, recovered 2¢/lb Thursday and were unchanged Friday. Those grades therefore remain 9¢/lb below Tuesday's level.
Copper Scrap Prices
Copper prices held steady after the previous day's modest rebound.
#1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright and #3 Copper-Light Copper were all → unchanged.
Alternator Scrap, #1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire with 50% Recovery also recorded no movement.
Copper Radiator Scrap, Copper Transformer Scrap and Cu Yokes held steady.
Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe were unchanged.
Harness Wire with 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wire, Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units and Xmas Lights also remained flat.
Copper Benchmark Check
The international copper market was also relatively quiet on September 25.
LME cash copper settled at $14,740/MT, down $25/MT from September 24, while the LME three-month contract edged $7/MT higher to $14,647/MT.
Scrap/benchmark read: North American copper scrap held steady while the LME market produced only modest and opposing movements across the cash and three-month contracts. The session offered little indication of a strong new directional move.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
Aluminum scrap remained completely unchanged across the tracked categories.
1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 6063 Extrusions, 5052 Scrap and 6061 Extrusions were all flat.
Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery also recorded no movement.
E.C. Aluminum Wire, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding and Zorba 90% NF remained unchanged.
Steel Scrap Prices
Steel scrap prices held steady across every reported benchmark grade.
#1 Bundle, #1 Busheling, #1 HMS and HMS 80/20 were unchanged.
Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap and Structural Steel also remained → flat.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
The stainless steel market also recorded no daily movement.
201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, 309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS and 316 SS Solid were all → unchanged.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
Brass and bronze scrap prices were unchanged across all listed grades.
70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap and Brass Radiator Scrap held steady.
Brass Radiator/Fe and Brass Radiator Ends maintained their previous-day levels.
Red Brass, Red Borings and Yellow Brass also recorded no change.
Market Read
September 25 was a consolidation session rather than a directional one. Every tracked scrap category held steady, and copper paused after Thursday's small rebound.
For copper, the important context is the preceding two sessions: an 11¢/lb decline followed by a 2¢/lb recovery. Friday's unchanged close means the major clean grades remain 9¢/lb below Tuesday's benchmark level.
