MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): North American scrap metal prices edged higher on the ScrapMonster Price Index on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Copper and brass/bronze scrap recorded modest gains, while most aluminum scrap categories remained unchanged. E.C. Aluminum Wire was the only aluminum category to register a price movement, posting a slight increase. Steel and stainless steel scrap prices held steady during the session.

Copper Scrap Prices

Alternator Scrap: Prices remained unchanged.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper-Light Copper: Prices increased by $0.03 per lb. each.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% Recovery), #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% Recovery), Romex Wire, and Copper Radiators: Prices rose by $0.01 per lb. each.

Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Cu/Al Radiators, Harness Wire (35% Recovery), and Heater Cores: Prices were unchanged.

Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units, and Xmas Lights: Prices remained flat compared with the previous day.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap prices remained stable across most categories on the Index. E.C. Aluminum Wire was the sole exception, posting a gain of $0.01 per lb.

1100 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, 6063 Extrusions/Fe, 6063 Extrusions, 5052 Scrap, and 6061 Extrusions: Prices remained unchanged.
Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers, and Breakage (50% Recovery): Prices held steady.
Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF: Prices recorded no change.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel scrap prices remained unchanged across all categories tracked by the Index.

#1 Bundle, #1 Busheling, and #1 HMS: Prices held steady.
HMS 80/20, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel: Prices also recorded no change from the previous day.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

Stainless steel scrap prices remained unchanged across all grades tracked by the Index.

201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, and 304 SS Turning: Prices held steady.
309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid: Prices also recorded no change from the previous day.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass and bronze scrap prices recorded modest gains across several categories.

70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator: Prices increased by $0.01 per lb. each.
Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass: Prices also rose by $0.01 per lb. each.
Brass Radiator/Fe and Brass Radiator Ends: Prices remained unchanged from the previous day.
