North American Scrap Metal Prices Mostly Steady; Copper and Brass Decline on the Index- September 14, 2026

Brass/Bronze: Scrap prices registered a modest decline across several grades in the North American market.

MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): North American scrap metal prices were largely stable on the ScrapMonster Price Index on Monday, September 14, 2026. Copper and Brass/Bronze prices edged lower, while prices across all other major scrap categories remained unchanged.

Copper Scrap Prices

Alternator Scrap: Prices were unchanged from the previous day.

#1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Copper Bare Bright, and #3 Copper–Light Copper: Each grade slipped by $0.13 per lb.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire (85% Recovery) and #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% Recovery): Both categories declined by $0.02 per lb.

Copper Radiator Scrap and Cu Yokes: Prices decreased by $0.03 per lb and $0.01 per lb, respectively.

Copper Transformer Scrap: Prices remained unchanged.

Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators, and Cu/Al Radiators/Fe: All three categories maintained their previous price levels.

Harness Wire (35% Recovery), Heater Cores, and Romex Wire: Each recorded a $0.02 per lb decline.

Scrap Electric Motors, Starters, Sealed Units, and Xmas Lights: Prices were unchanged from the previous day.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum: Scrap prices remained broadly stable, with all listed grades holding their previous-day levels on the Index.

1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 356 Aluminum Wheels, and 6063 Extrusions/Fe: Prices were unchanged from the previous day.
6063 Extrusions, 5052 Scrap, and 6061 Extrusions: All three categories remained flat.
Al/Cu Radiators and Al/Cu Radiators/Fe: Prices showed no movement.
Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Radiators/Fe: Both grades maintained their existing price levels.
Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery: Prices remained unchanged on the Index.
E.C. Aluminum Wire, Chrome Wheels, Litho Sheets, MLC Clips, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast, UBC, Old Sheet, Painted Siding, and Zorba 90% NF: All recorded no day-over-day variation.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 Bundle, #1 Busheling, and #1 HMS: Prices remained unchanged on the Index.

HMS 80/20, Sheet Metal, Shredded Auto Scrap, and Structural Steel: All four categories held steady, with no day-over-day price movement.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS, 301 SS, 304 SS Solid, and 304 SS Turning: Prices remained unchanged on the Index.

309 SS, 310 SS, 330 SS, and 316 SS Solid: All four grades also held steady, with no day-over-day variation.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass/Bronze: Scrap prices registered a modest decline across several grades in the North American market.

70/30 Brass, 80/20 Brass, 85/15 Brass, and Brass Radiator Scrap: Prices decreased by $0.03 per lb each.
Brass Radiator/Fe and Brass Radiator Ends: Both categories remained unchanged from the previous day.
Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass: Each grade recorded a $0.03 per lb decline on the Index.
