Chinese Scrap Metal Market Posts Mixed Price Movements on the Index– September 10, 2026

201 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, and Shred SS prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT from the previous day's prices.

Summary

Copper prices strengthened: Major copper scrap grades recorded notable gains, with Bare Bright and #1/#2 Copper Wire and Tubing leading the advance at CNY 1,200 per MT.
Aluminum showed weakness: Several aluminum grades, including 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Ingots, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, and Old Sheet, declined by CNY 50 per MT.
Other metals moved higher or held steady: Stainless steel and brass/bronze scrap prices increased, while steel scrap remained unchanged on the Index.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices posted a mixed performance on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Thursday, September 10, 2026. Copper, stainless steel, and brass/bronze scrap prices increased, while aluminum scrap prices edged lower. Steel scrap prices, meanwhile, remained unchanged on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices rose across all major categories on the Index.

Bare Bright, #1 and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing gained CNY 1,200 per MT, while #1 Insulated Copper Wire increased CNY 600 per MT and #2 Insulated Copper Wire rose CNY 150 per MT.

Cu/Al Radiator Scrap and Heater Cores advanced CNY 150 and CNY 500 per MT, respectively.

Other categories posted smaller CNY 50 per MT gains.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots each declined by CNY 50 per MT from the previous day.

Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers witnessed no variation.

E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, and Old Sheet prices decreased by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Meanwhile, UBC and Zorba 90% INF prices recorded no change from the previous day's prices.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices recorded no variation on the Index.

Cast Iron Scrap also recorded no change.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, and Shred SS prices edged higher by CNY 50 per MT from the previous day's prices.

310 SS prices saw an increase of CNY 150 per MT.

Meanwhile, 309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices posted a jump of CNY 100 per MT on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass and bronze scrap prices in China recorded an increase on the Index.

Brass Radiator scrap prices edged higher by CNY 100 per MT, while Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices recorded a jump of CNY 150 per MT each when compared with the prior day’s prices.
