Copper Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- September 19, 2025

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,968.00 per tonne as of September 18, 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):The below report analyses the weekly price trends of scrap copper across various regional markets during the past week (September 12 to 18, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index.

North America Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region recorded mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities held steady, while a few recorded decline on the Index. Also, Cu Yokes prices alone increased over the previous week’s price.

The biggest decline in prices over the prior week was witnessed in #3 Copper- Light Copper, whose prices edged lower by 1.41% from $4.25 per Lb to $4.19 per Lb. The other copper scrap varieties to record moderst decline in prices include #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, which recorded price declines by 1.38% and 1.35% respectively.

The other copper scrap categories to witness jump in prices include #1 Copper Bare Bright and Copper Transformer Scrap.

In the meantime,  the prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wire, Cu/Al Radiators, Alternators, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters and Xmas Lights reported no change week-over-week.

Cu Yokes prices were up by 1.94% on the Index during the week ended September 18, 2025.

 

USA East Coast Prices

The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed no change in the region. #3 Copper- Light Copper prices posted the biggest decline over the week.

The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing too recorded modest dip over the week.

The weekly price chart of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, whose prices edged lower from $4.35 per Lb to $4.29 per Lb, is provided below:

 

Also, the prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright and Copper Radiators recorded decline as of the week ended September 18, 2025.

Meanwhile, all other scrap categories, excluding Cu Yokes maintained previous week’s price levels. Cu Yokes prices alone registered marginal increase over the previous week.

 

USA Midwest Prices

The copper scrap prices in the region witnessed mixed trend, when matched with the week before that. The prices of majority of the commodities were flat.

The largest dip in prices over the prior week was witnessed in #3 Copper- Light Copper, whose prices edged lower from $4.14 per Lb to $4.08 per Lb. The other copper scrap varieties to record marginal fall in prices include #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, which recorded price declines by 1.42% and 1.38% respectively.

The prices of #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Harness Wire 35% Recovery, Heater Cores, Romex Wire, Cu/Al Radiators, Alternators, Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu/Al Radiator Ends, Cu/Al Radiators/Fe, Scrap Electric Motors, Sealed Units, Starters and Xmas Lights witnessed no change week-on-week.

USA West Coast Prices

The prices of most copper scrap categories witnessed no variation in the region. #3 Copper- Light Copper prices posted the biggest decline over the week.

The prices of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing too witnessed decline over the week.

Additionally, during the course of the week, the prices of #1 Copper Bare Bright and Copper Radiators decreased.

Meanwhile, all other scrap categories held steady, with the exception of Cu Yokes.

Cu Yokes prices were up by 1.92%, rising from $1.04 per Lb to $1.06 per Lb.

China Prices

The prices of all copper scrap commodities recorded decline over the previous week.

Copper Transformer Scrap prices edged lower by 0.41% week-on-week to close at CNY 12,250 per MT during the week. 

The prices of Heater Cores also were down by 1.82%, when compared with the week before. The weekly price chart of Heater Cores for the week is given below:

 

Cu Yokes and Harness Wire 35% Recovery recorded decline, falling from the previous week by 0.56% and 0.55% respectively as of September 18, 2025. 

The other commodities to record decline in prices include #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, Cu/Al Radiators, #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units.

India Prices

The scrap commodities in Indian market recorded decline, upon comparison with the previous week.

The Copper sheet cutting prices recorded week-on-week dip by 2.50%.

The copper heavy scrap and copper armeture scrap prices recorded decline, with the prices of both commodities recording fall by 1.35%. The weekly chart depicting the price movement in Copper armeture scrap is provided below:

 

The prices of copper cable scrap and copper utensil scrap also edged lower on the Scrap Monster Index by 1.33% and 1.31% respectively. 

Also, the prices of Copper wire bars (HCL *) recorded decline by 1.31% during the week ending September 18, 2025.

Europe Prices

The prices of all copper scrap commodities such as #1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, Braziery Copper, Copper Dry Bright, Copper radiators and Copper Tubes held steady during the course of the week.

 

LME Copper Market Update

The closing price of LME Copper 3-Month contract stood at USD 9,968.00 per tonne as of September 18, 2025. The LME Copper Cash Settlement contract prices increased marginally from $9,894.00 a day before to $9,895.00 per tonne.

The LME Copper stocks saw marginal decline over the previous day to close at 148,875 tonnes of September 18, 2025, when compared with 149,775 tonnes a day before.
