August 23, 2025: Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Jumped on the Index
The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF were flat from the previous day.
BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese aluminum scrap prices witnessed a modest increase on ScrapMonster Price Index as of Saturday, August 23, 2025. Copper scrap prices also were up from the previous day. Brass/Bronze and Stainless Steel scrap prices were flat when matched with the prior day’s prices. Also, Steel scrap prices held steady on the Index.
Copper Scrap Prices
The #1 Copper Bare Bright prices were up by CNY 150 per MT.
#1 Copper Wire and Tubing price saw a jump of CNY 150 per MT.
The price of #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also increased by CNY 150 per MT.
#1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery prices were up by CNY 50 per MT over the previous day’s price. The price of #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery witnessed no variation when compared with the day before.
Copper Transformer and Cu Yokes scrap prices were flat on the Index.
Cu/Al Radiators saw no change in prices.
Harness Wire 35% Recovery prices were unchanged over the previous day.
The price of Heater Cores were up by CNY 50 per MT on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Meanwhile, Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices held steady on the Index.
Aluminum Scrap Prices
6063 Extrusions recorded a jump of CNY 50 per MT in prices over the previous day.
Aluminum Ingots also were up by CNY 50 per MT.
The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers held steady on the Index.
E.C Aluminum Wire prices increased by CNY 50 per MT on the Index.
Old Cast and Old Sheet prices also edged higher by CNY 50 per MT each on August 23, 2025.
The prices of UBC and Zorba 90% INF were flat from the previous day.
Steel Scrap Prices
#1 HMS prices held steady on August 23, 2025.
Cast Iron Scrap also reported no change in prices.
Stainless Steel Scrap Prices
201 SS prices recorded no change on the Index.
304 SS Solid and 304 SS Turning prices also were flat on the Index.
309 SS and 316 SS Solid prices were unchanged when compared with the prior day.
310 SS scrap prices recorded no variation as of August 23, 2025.
Shred SS prices held steady over the previous day.
Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices
The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded no change from the previous day.
Brass Radiator scrap prices were flat as of Saturday, August 23, 2025.
Red Brass and Yellow Brass prices too were flat on the Index.
