AISI: U.S. Weekly Raw Steel Output Jumped
With 798,000 net tons, the Southern region produced the most.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 4.20% in the week ending July 19, 2025. This was based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.
Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.768 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. The capacity of the domestic mill was 78.0%. Remember that production was 1.696 million NT during the same week last year, with a little lower capacity utilization rate of 76.4%.

The output dropped slightly by 0.80% in the week ending July 19, 2025, compared to the week ending July 12, 2025, when 1,783,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 78.7%.
The Southern region produced the most, with 798,000 net tons. The Great Lakes area produced 561,000 net tons throughout the week. The productions (in thousand net tons) of the other regions are North East-118, Midwest-223, and Western-68.
With a capability utilization rate of 76.2%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of July 19, 2025, was 48.750 million net tons. This represents a 0.8% increase over the same period in 2024, when production was 48.365 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%.
