World’s Topmost Steel Producing Countries in March 2025

China topped the list with a little 4.6% increase in output over the previous year.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The World Steel Association (worldsteel) has released the list of top 10 steel producing nations during the month of March this year.

With a little 4.6% increase in output over the previous year, China topped the list. During the month, 92.8 million tons of crude steel were produced nationwide. The total output for the January–March '25 period of this year was 259.3 Mt, a 0.6% increase over the same period last year.

At 13.8 Mt, India's anticipated output was a little increase of 7.0% from March 2024. Between January and March of this year, the nation produced 40.10 million tons of steel. While Japan's total output up to March of this year was down 4.9% from the previous year to 20.4 Mt, the country's monthly output increased by 0.2% to 7.2 Mt.

Turkey Increased Steel Production by 7% m/m in March 

The United States produced 6.7 million tons of steel, a slight 1.5% decline over the previous year. Russia is expected to have produced 6.2 million tons. Other countries that rank in the top 10 in terms of Mt include South Korea (5.0), Turkiye (3.0), Germany (2.9), Brazil (2.8) and Iran (3.1).

With its output showing an annual loss of 11.7%, Germany saw the biggest monthly decrease in steel production among the top 10 steel-producing countries. In contrast, India saw the biggest increase in output, with an annual growth rate of 7.0%.
