Sims Metal Announced Appointment of New CCO

Earlier Mr. Thompson has worked with Gerdau North America in several roles with increasing responsibilities in commercial, operations and logistics.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Sims Metal announced that it has appointed Robert Thompson as its Global Chief Commercial Officer effective July 11, 2022. He succeeds Michael Movsas, who announced his retirement in January this year.

Mr. Thompson will have global responsibility for shipping and chartering, as well as both ferrous and non-ferrous material buying and processed material sales. Also, he will serve as an integral member of Sims Limited's executive leadership team.

Commenting on the appointment, Alistair Field, managing director and chief executive officer at Sims Limited said that he is very excited that Rob Thompson is joining its metal business division. Rob’s extensive experience in both the production and sale of steel and recycled metal will help in leading the commercial arm of the company’s metal business division, he added.

Earlier Mr. Thompson has worked with Gerdau North America in several roles with increasing responsibilities in commercial, operations and logistics. Most recently, he has been leading sales and marketing for Gerdau's North American Long Steel business. Also, he held various responsibilities spanning Europe, Latin America and North America. Prior to joining Gerdau, he has also spent 15 years at metal recycling companies.
