Samsung to Launch New Mobile Phone Recycling Drive

The devices thus collected will be processed at Enviroserve’s state-of-the-art electronic waste processing plant in Dubai Industrial City.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Samsung Gulf Electronics announced that it has launched a new electronics recycling programme, in collaboration with Dubai-based leading electronics recycler, Enviroserve. The new initiative aims to promote sustainability and safeguard the environment from dumped electronic waste.

As part of the initiative, Samsung will now collect mobile phones of any brand across the UAE and responsibly recycle them. The collection will be through bins placed at Samsung stores, where customers can drop off their handheld devices. The devices thus collected will be processed at Enviroserve’s state-of-the-art electronic waste processing plant in Dubai Industrial City.

The program offers responsible methods to recycle mobile phones and tablets and reuse the materials in them, thereby preventing hazardous materials from ending up in landfills. The program had offered participating customers with a gift voucher of up to AED 500, redeemable at Samsung e-store, in connection with World Environment Day on June 5th.

Kiran Tewari, Head of Customer Service, Samsung Gulf Electronics said that the company is proud to be working with Enviroserve in order to ensure that no phones with hazardous materials reach landfill sites. The initiative will inspire others to launch similar initiatives aimed at protecting community from hazardous materials.
