Chinese Scrap Prices Advance Across Multiple Grades on the Index– September 9, 2026

Copper, aluminum, and brass/bronze scrap prices jumped compared to the previous day, while stainless steel and steel scrap prices remained steady on the Index.

Summary

Copper scrap prices posted the strongest gains: Several copper grades recorded increases, with #1 Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing each rising by CNY 450 per MT. Other copper categories also moved higher.
Aluminum and brass/bronze prices advanced: Aluminum scrap prices increased across multiple grades, including 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum Ingots, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast and Old Sheet. Brass Radiator, Red Brass and Yellow Brass also recorded gains.
Steel and stainless steel remained stable: #1 HMS and Cast Iron scrap prices were unchanged, while all listed stainless steel grades reported no daily variation, indicating limited movement in these segments.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): The Chinese scrap metal prices recorded notable gains on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Wednesday, September 9, 2026.

Copper: Broad-based surge
Aluminum: Consistent upward movement
Brass/Bronze: Widespread increase
Stainless Steel: Reported no variation
Steel: Stable/unchanged

Copper, aluminum, and brass/bronze scrap prices jumped compared to the previous day, while stainless steel and steel scrap prices remained steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices saw broad-based gains on the Index.

#1 Copper Bare Bright and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing both surged by CNY 450 per MT compared to the previous day. Also, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing rose by CNY 450 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% recovery climbed CNY 200 per MT, and #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% recovery) recorded an increase of CNY 100 per MT.

Copper Transformer scrap prices were flat over the previous day’s prices.

Cu Yokes and Harness Wire (35% recovery) prices reported a jump of CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap increased by CNY 100 per MT, while Heater Cores were up by CNY 200 per MT.

Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units recorded no change on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots witnessed a jump of CNY 100 per MT in prices over the previous day.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers were up by CNY 50 per MT each on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, and Old Sheet prices saw a jump of CNY 100 per MT on the Index.

UBC and Zorba 90% INF prices increased by CNY 50 per MT each from the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady on the Index.

Cast Iron Scrap reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, Shred SS : Witnessed no change over the previous day
309 SS, 316 SS Solid, 310 SS: Recorded no variation

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded a slight jump on the Index.

Brass Radiator: Increased by CNY 50 per MT
Red Brass, Yellow Brass: Edged higher by CNY 100 per MT
