Copper and brass/bronze scrap edged higher, stainless steel scrap dropped, and aluminum and steel scrap held steady.

Summary

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices posted modest, mixed movement on the Scrap Monster Price Index as of Wednesday, August 5, 2026. Copper and brass/bronze scrap edged higher, stainless steel scrap dropped, and aluminum and steel scrap held steady.

Copper and Brass Scrap Prices Rose

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices saw broad-based gains on the China Copper Scrap Price Index. #1 Copper Bare Bright and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing both surged by CNY 650 per MT compared with the previous day, while #2 Copper Wire and Tubing also rose by CNY 650 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% recovery climbed CNY 300 per MT, and #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% recovery) increased by CNY 100 per MT. Copper Transformer scrap and Cu Yokes reported increases by CNY 50 per MT each.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap jumped CNY 100 per MT, while Heater Cores gained CNY 250 per MT. Harness Wire (35% recovery), Scrap Electric Motors, and Sealed Units edged higher by CNY 50 per MT.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass/Bronze scrap prices recorded a modest jump on the China Brass/Bronze Scrap Price Index. Brass Radiator was up by CNY 50 per MT, while Red Brass and Yellow Brass each increased by CNY 100 per MT.

Aluminum and Steel Held Steady

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap prices showed no movement on the China Aluminum Scrap Price Index. 6063 Extrusions, Aluminum ingot, Aluminum Radiators, and Aluminum Transformers were unchanged. E.C Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC, and Zorba 90% INF prices also saw no variation.

Steel Scrap Prices

Steel scrap prices held steady on the China Steel Scrap Price Index. #1 HMS prices were unchanged compared with the previous day, and Cast Iron Scrap reported no change.

Stainless Steel Scrap Declined

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

Stainless steel scrap prices edged lower on the China Stainless Steel Scrap Price Index. 201 SS prices were down by CNY 50 per MT. 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning, and Shred SS recorded declines by CNY 100 per MT versus the previous day.

309 SS and 316 SS Solid inched lower by CNY 200 per MT each, while 310 SS declined by CNY 250 per MT.
