The modest decline in hallmarked and non-hallmarked gold scrap prices last week was mainly attributed to a correction in global gold prices as investors locked in profits following recent gains.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): North American hallmarked and non-hallmarked gold scrap prices posted a modest week-on-week decline on the ScrapMonster Price Index during the week ended July 30, 2026. Meanwhile, both hallmarked and non-hallmarked silver and platinum scrap categories also registered declines over the same period.

Hallmarked Precious Metals Market

Hallmarked scrap gold prices recorded a week-on-week decline.

The modest decline in hallmarked and non-hallmarked gold scrap prices last week was mainly attributed to a correction in global gold prices as investors locked in profits following recent gains. The appreciation of the U.S. dollar, coupled with a more cautious investment outlook, further weakened bullion prices and limited support for the scrap market. Meanwhile, adequate domestic scrap availability and muted procurement by refiners and jewelry manufacturers kept additional downward pressure on prices.

These market trends were clearly mirrored in the ScrapMonster Price Index, which recorded modest declines across multiple gold purity grades during the previous week.

Fourteen-carat scrap gold prices edged lower by $87.07 per ounce, tracking the broader weakness in global bullion markets. Similarly, eighteen-carat scrap gold prices decreased by $111.67 per ounce over the same period.

On a week-over-week basis, 22-carat scrap gold prices dropped by $136.34 per pound, driven by a mix of global and domestic factors.

The chart below highlights the weekly price movement of 22-carat hallmarked gold.

Lower-purity segments also mirrored the overall downward trend, with 9-carat scrap gold falling by around $55.82 compared to the previous week.

In the broader precious metals scrap market, silver recorded a robust 3.27% fall from the previous week’s level of $44.70 per ounce, while platinum dropped by 2.99% week-on-week, suggesting weakening market trends.

Non-Hallmarked Precious Metals Market

Scrap gold values weakened across all major purity grades over the week, mirroring the downward momentum in the global bullion market. Fourteen-carat scrap prices declined by $82.34 per ounce, while eighteen-carat and twenty-two-carat grades recorded losses of $105.56 and $128.93 per ounce, respectively. Meanwhile, 9-carat scrap also posted a modest week-on-week dip of 3.71%, underscoring a generally weak trend across segments.

Platinum scrap prices recorded a moderate weekly decline, falling 2.99% from the previous week’s level of $1,200.24 per ounce, according to the chart below.

Silver scrap prices posted a notable week-on-week dip of 3.29%, driven by weaker international silver spot prices, stronger U.S. dollar, and subdued industrial and physical demand.
