RUSAL has built 20 gas purification plants of its own design at aluminum plants

At the same time, the effectiveness of its own development surpasses its foreign counterparts.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster):  This was reported by the Russian Aluminum Association.

'The SibWAMI Institute, which is part of RUSAL, created the technology and equipment for the SSOU,— the report says. — Development started in 2016, in 2018, the supply of equipment and construction of installations at aluminum plants began, and in 2019, the first five CSOs started operating. Various technology solutions are protected by four Russian patents.'

It is noted that this is one of RUSAL's largest import substitution projects and at the same time to reduce the environmental impact. Previously, the domestic aluminum industry relied on Western gas purification solutions. At the same time, the effectiveness of its own development surpasses its foreign counterparts.

The SibVAMI team, which developed SSOU RUSAL, received the B. I.

Tikhomirov Award. Alexey Zherdev, Alexey Pyankin, Artyom Ignatiev, Alexey Shemet and Andrey Markov were recognized as laureates of the first degree award in the nomination 'For the introduction of advanced technologies and innovative solutions'. The award was established by the Russian Engineering Union with the support of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan and is one of the most prestigious awards in the construction industry.

'SGOU RUSAL captures over 99.5% of fluoride compounds, dust and resinous substances from electrolysis gases, which is higher than the performance of foreign analogues,' said Viktor Mann, Technical Director of RUSAL. — At the same time, CGO RUSAL is much cheaper: on average, we save over 50 mcu rubles on each CGO by reducing the installation area by half, reducing metal consumption by 40%, reducing the number of modules and pieces of equipment, and other technical optimization solutions. An important advantage of our installations is that they work more reliably in the harsh conditions of the Siberian winter.'

The development of domestic gas purification equipment has made it possible to create and develop new competencies, increase the scientific and production potential of the country and increase the technological sovereignty of the aluminum industry of the Russian Federation. SGOU RUSAL has become a prototype for future heavy-duty gas purification plants designed for large-scale environmental modernization of the Krasnoyarsk and Bratsk aluminum plants.
