SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Alcoa Corporation announced that Emily Olson will join the company as Executive Vice President and Chief External Affairs Officer starting April 6, 2026. In her new role, Olson will oversee Alcoa’s global external affairs and communications functions, including government relations, corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and the Alcoa Foundation.

Olson will also become a member of the company’s Executive Team, working closely with senior leadership to advance Alcoa’s strategic priorities and strengthen engagement with key stakeholders around the world.

Commenting on the appointment, William F. Oplinger said Olson brings extensive leadership experience and a strong track record of navigating complex regulatory environments and building trusted partnerships with governments, communities, and industry stakeholders.

Before joining Alcoa, Olson served as Chief Sustainability and Corporate Affairs Officer at Vale Base Metals, where she led global teams covering government relations, sustainability, communications, and licensing. She also served as Chairman of PT Vale Indonesia and acted as a key liaison with governments worldwide.

Earlier in her career, Olson held senior roles at Freeport-McMoRan and BP plc, focusing on government affairs, geopolitical risk, and strategic stakeholder engagement across multiple regions.
