worldsteel Shortlists Finalists for the steelChallenge-20 Global Championship
Regional first-place winners from both the Industry and University Student categories will compete for the world title next April.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Regional Championship of steelChallenge-20 concluded on 25 November 2025 after an intense 24-hour online competition that attracted 2,438 participants from around the world. This year’s edition saw strong engagement from 1,159 university students, 755 industry professionals, and, for the first time, 524 high school students, thanks to a newly launched High School Category Pilot.
worldsteel has confirmed the regional winners who will advance to the World Championship Finals in Berlin in April 2026.

The selected participants from Industry category are Wojciech Skuza (ArcelorMittal), Marviane Souza (ArcelorMittal), Balahanuman Naradala (EMSTEEL), Yang Wang (HBIS Group) and Nahyun Kim (POSCO).
The finalists in University student category are Janez Cerkovnik (University of Ljubljana), Victor Lima (Universidade Federal do Ceará), Muaz Alhaji (Amity University), Ge Lei (Tangshan Vocational College of Science and Technology) and Jeong hoo Choi (Jeonbuk National University).
Jorge Muract, Director of steeluniversity, noted that steelChallenge continues to enhance industry skills and foster innovation across the global steel sector.
