The United States' domestic steel mills shipped 68.733 million net tons in the first nine months of 2025.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The latest data released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) revealed that U.S. steel shipments in September 2025 showed steady year-on-year and month-on-month growth, signaling continued strength in the nation’s steel sector.

According to AISI’s monthly report, domestic steel mills shipped 8.033 million net tons in September 2025 — up 12.4% from the 7.143 million net tons recorded in September 2024. On a monthly basis, shipments rose 3.5% compared with August 2025, when total shipments stood at 7.763 million net tons.

For the first nine months of 2025, U.S. steel mills collectively shipped 68.733 million net tons, marking a 4.6% increase from the 65.684 million net tons shipped during the same period last year.

The report further highlighted changes in shipment volumes across major product categories. Corrosion-resistant sheet shipments climbed 4% year-on-year, while hot rolled sheet and strip shipments declined 1%. Cold rolled sheet and strip shipments saw a 4% decrease compared with the same period in 2024.

Overall, the figures suggest a stable but uneven growth trend across product lines, with corrosion-resistant materials leading the upward momentum in U.S. steel output for 2025.
