EU Ferrous Scrap Exports Saw Marginal Dip in H12025
The largest EU scrap exporters in January-June ’25 were the Netherlands, Belgium, Poland, Germany and Denmark.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The recently published Eurostat data indicates that the EU ferrous scrap exports to third countries recorded a slight decline during the initial six-month period of the current year. The exports totalled 8.11 million tons during Jan-June ‘25, down by 0.9% when compared with the same period in 2024.

The primary export destination was Turkey, which imported 5.57 million tons of material from the EU. The exports to Turkey surged higher by more than 15% year-on-year. The second largest importer was Egypt with 564,090 tons. However, the EU exports to that country witnssed sharp decline by 45%. The other major importers were India (482,000 tons) and Pakistan (250,000 tons). The above mentioned four countries accounted for nearly 85% of the total scrap exports from the EU region.

The exports totalled 1.09 million tons in June this year. Over the previous year, the monthly exports recorded a decline of 6.9%. The export volume during the month was the lowest since September last year.
The major export destinations of EU ferrous scrap in June this year were Turkey (751,000 tons), Egypt (82,000 tons), India (79,000 tons) and Pakistan (27,000 tons).
