MONTREAL (Scrap Monster): Mexico plans to strengthen plastic waste management through a new partnership between the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) and Ecología y Compromiso Empresarial (ECOCE).

The two organizations have signed an agreement aimed at increasing plastic collection, recycling and reuse while reducing the amount of waste that ends up in the environment.

The initiative will bring together government bodies, businesses, educational institutions, organizations and citizens.

Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection Mariana Boy said the initiative will support a transition toward a circular economy and generate more value from recovered materials.

ECOCE Director Jorge Terrazas said the agreement will strengthen cooperation among the various stakeholders involved.
