Aluminum Scrap Prices: Weekly Market Report- August 22, 2025

The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract increased slightly from $2,567.00 a day before to $2,570.50 per tonne.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The weekly trend in aluminium scrap prices across worldwide markets for the past one-week period (August 15 to 21, 2025) on the Scrap Monster Price Index is provided below:

North America Prices

There was a general downward tendency in the prices. All scrap categories, except a few, recorded decline when compared with the previous week.

The largest price drop of the week was seen in Mixed Aluminum Turnings, which recorded a decrease from $0.48 per pound to $0.47 per pound. The commodity saw a 2.08% weekly price decrease.

6061 Extrusions and Zorba 90% NF also reported modest decline in price over the previous week, falling by 1.39% and 1.37%, respectively.

1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 6063 Extrusions, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 6063 Extrusions/Fe, MLC Clips, 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 5052 Scrap, Chrome Wheels, Old Cast, Old Sheet and UBC prices reported decline over the previous week.

In contrast, prices of Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery held steady over the previous week.

USA East Coast Prices

Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices recorded biggest dip over the week, registering 2.08% decline from $0.48 per Lb to $0.47 per Lb. Also, modest weekly declines by 1.39% and 1.37% were seen in 6061 Extrusions and Zorba 90% NF.

The least decline was seen in E.C. Aluminum Wire. The prices of the commodity recorded a weekly decline of 0.85%, falling from $1.17 per Lb to $1.16 per Lb.

In the meantime, prices of Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery were flat during the week ending August 21, 2025.

USA Midwest Prices

The aluminium scrap prices in the region mostly edged lower over the previous week. The top three losers were Mixed Aluminum Turnings, 6061 Extrusions and Zorba 90% NF.

The Mixed Aluminum Turnings prices ended the week at $0.46 per Lb, down from the previous week’s price of $0.47 per Lb by 2.13%.

Also, the week witnessed dip in prices of 6061 Extrusions and Zorba 90% NF to $0.70 per Lb and $0.71 per Lb respectively.

The other commodities to register week-on-week dip in prices were 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, 6063 Extrusions, 356 Aluminum Wheels (Clean), 6063 Extrusions/Fe, MLC Clips, 6063 Extrusions, E.C. Aluminum Wire, Litho Sheets, Painted Siding, 5052 Scrap, Chrome Wheels, Old Cast, Old Sheet and UBC. 

USA West Coast Prices

The prices of the region’s majority of scrap aluminum categories fell week over week.

The scrap categories to dip the most were Mixed Aluminum Turnings and 6061 Extrusions, whose prices recorded declines by 2.08% and 1.39% respectively over the previous week. Zorba 90% NF prices recorded fall from $0.73 per Lb to $0.72 per Lb.

In the meantime, Aluminum Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators, Al/Cu Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Radiators/Fe, Aluminum Transformers and Breakage 50% Recovery prices held steady when compared with the week before.

 

China Prices

The aluminum scrap commodities in the region reported decline in prices during the week ending August 21, 2025.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices declined the most. The prices of both these commodities were down by 0.82% each.

6063 Extrusions prices recorded a decline of CNY 150 per MT from the prior day’s prices.

Also, Aluminum Radiators, Aluminum Transformers, UBC, Zorba 90% NF, E.C. Aluminum Wire and Aluminum ingots prices recorded decline on the Index.

UBC recorded the least decline, with prices falling marginally by 0.39% over the previous week. The below chart depicts the weekly price variation in the prices of the commodity:

 

 India Prices

The prices of Aluminum utensil scrap saw a little decrease of 2.04%, falling from INR 245,000 per Ton to INR 240,000 a tonne during the week ending on August 21, 2025.

The prices of Aluminum ingots also were down by 1.97% during the week.

Europe Prices

The prices of all aluminium scrap categories (Aluminum Cuttings, Mixed Aluminum Turnings, Old Cast and UBC) held steady during the week.

 

LME Aluminum Market Update

The closing price of LME Aluminum 3-Month contract stood at USD 2,571.50 per tonne as of August 21, 2025. The LME Aluminum Cash Settlement contract increased slightly from $2,567.00 a day before to $2,570.50 per tonne.

The LME Aluminum stocks held steady over the previous day. The stocks remained unchanged at 479,525 tonnes as on August 21, 2025.
