AISI Posted Jump in U.S. Domestic Raw Steel Production

Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.781 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): According to the American Iron and Steel Institute's (AISI) most recent weekly domestic production figures, U.S. weekly raw steel production increased by roughly 4.90% during the week ending July 5, 2025. This was based on a comparison between this week and the same week last year.

Over the course of the week, the United States produced 1.781 million net tons (NT) of domestic raw steel. 78.6% of the domestic mill's capacity was being used. Remember that production was 1.698 million NT in the same week last year, at a little lower capacity utilization rate of 76.5%.

In comparison to the week ending June 28, 2025, when 1,776,000 net tons were produced and the capability utilization rate was 79.1%, the output increased marginally by 0.30% in the week ending July 5, 2025.

The Southern region produced the most, with 791,000 net tons. The Great Lakes region produced 563,000 net tons throughout the week. Productions (in thousand net tons) for the other regions are North East-123, Midwest-231, and Western-73.

With a capability utilization rate of 76.0%, the adjusted year-to-date output as of July 5, 2025, was 45.199 million net tons. Compared to the same period in 2024, when production was 44.973 million net tons with a capacity utilization rate of 76.2%, this indicates a 0.5% rise.
