Crews Knock Down Scrap Fire in Montville
A dozen tanks and ladder trucks from surrounding towns are also on site assisting.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Crews battled a scrap yard fire in Montville Wednesday evening, according to the Chesterfield Company Fire Department in Montville.
Crews were able to knock the fire down in two hours.
There is metal recycling on site, and Public Information Officer Steven Frichling said that he believes some trucks and equipment are also on fire.
A dozen tanks and ladder trucks from surrounding towns are also on site assisting.
“We have 12 tankers three, three ladders, six engines, a hose tender and two draft sites,” Oakdale Fire Department Chief Micah Messer said. “And when we pulled in the fire was going pretty good, on that one main pile that’s usually going. So, we hit it quick with the ladder trucks and put it out, we were able to get it down a lot quicker than the last time, we put it out in about two hours, last time it took 12 hours.”
