Top Ten Gold Producing Nations in 2023

The world’s third largest gold producing country in 2023 was Russia with a total production of 310 metric tons.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): China remains the largest gold producer in 2023. The annual gold mine production from the country is projected at 370 metric tons. The country has been consistently posting gold output in excess of 300 metric tons for more than a decade now. However, the estimated production is significantly lower when compared with the peak production of 455 metric tons reported in 2016.

Australia is ranked second among gold producers. The country’s gold production totalled 310 metric tons in 2023, more or less stable upon comparison with the prior year. The country is home to one of the world’s largest gold reserves and is a major contributor to global gold supply. The major contributors include mines such as Newmont’s Boddington mine in Western Australia.

In terms of gold reserves, the country is ranked second after Australia. Russia has total gold reserves of around 11,000 metric tons.

The other countries in the top ten list along with their gold production in metric tons are as follows: Canada (200), U.S. (170), Kazakhstan (130), Mexico (120), Indonesia (110), South Africa (100) and Uzbekistan (100).
