Mexico Maintains Minimum Sales Price for Metal Scrap

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The Mexican government announced today the minimum sales prices for scrap metal generated by all federal agencies. The average price of 23 metal products is equivalent to MXN 8,627 per metric ton ($496/mt), with a maximum price of $1,490/mt and a minimum of $61/mt, according to a SteelOrbis analysis of official data.
Today the Ministry of Finance published in the official gazette of the federal government (DOF), the minimum sales prices that agencies must consider to sell their waste for recycling. The list contains 180 products, of which 23 are metal scrap.
The average price is MXN 8,627/mt, 0.1 percent less than the price announced on June 14. The minimum price corresponds to iron slag with MXN 1,066/mt ($61/mt). This minimum price decreased 4.7 percent compared to June.
The minimum sale price for contaminated mixed ferrous scrap is $63/mt, cast iron scrap $103/mt, and strip-type steel scrap $151/mt. First special scrap ferrous (which does not require preparation or cutting for smelting) at $322/mt.
The minimum price for carbon steel tubes in sections greater than three meters with an external diameter of up to 33.40 millimeters is MXN 25,915/mt, which is equivalent to $1,490/mt, considering today's exchange rate of MXN 17.39 per dollar. This product is the maximum price.
