Nestle Philippines Collaborated with GMA to Collect and Recycle Plastic Waste
Meantime, studies by the World Bank cite Philippines as one of the world’s top polluting countries.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nestle Philippines has joined forces with GMA Network in cleaning up the Las Pinas Paranaque Critical Habitat & Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) shores. The event was held in connection with the International Coastal Cleanup Day celebrations. It collected a total of 1,307 kilograms of waste from shores, with plastic waste accounting for majority of it. Incidentally, Nestle Philippines has been conducting such cleanup activity since 2020.
Kais Marzouki, Chairman and CEO, Nestle Philippines noted that it has retrieved 52 million kilograms of plastic over the past two years.

Similar cleanup initiatives were conducted in Umalag River in Cagayan de Oro, Latag River in Lipa, Batangas and Taal Lake in Tanauan, Batangas. All the waste thus retrieved have been delivered to waste management facilities, where they will be treated responsibly, so as to ensure that they do not end up as marine litter again.
The partnership committed to educate the public about the grave plastic waste crisis in the country and responsibility to save and preserve the planet by reducing, reusing and recycling plastics.
