AISI: U.S. Steel Mills' Capacity Utilization Recouped This Week
The cumulative adjusted year-to-date U.S. raw steel production totalled 12.807 million NT through the week ending on February 19, 2022.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The U.S. weekly raw steel output recorded modest increase by 1.40% during the week ending on February 19, 2022, when matched with the comparable week in 2021. This is in accordance with the latest weekly domestic production statistics released by the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI).
The U.S. weekly domestic raw steel output totalled 1.764 million net tons (NT). The domestic mill capability utilization rate was 80.1%. It must be noted that the production had totalled only 1.740 million NT at a lower capacity utilization rate of 76.8% during the corresponding week a year before. Meantime, the weekly crude steel production recorded marginal increase by 0.30% over the week. The production was 1.758 million NT during the week ended February 12, 2022.

The cumulative adjusted year-to-date U.S. raw steel production totalled 12.807 million NT through the week ending on February 19, 2022. This is up by 3.2% from the production which totalled 12.412 million NT during the same period in 2021. The capability utilization rate too recorded notable surge from 76.7% to 81.4% over the year.
Southern region emerged as the leading producer, with an output of 729,000 net tons. The production by Great Lakes region stood at 601,000 net tons during the week. The production by other regions (in thousand net tons) is as follows: North East-171, Midwest-192 and Western-71.
