DS Smith Paper Mill Displayed Latest Innovations and Sustainability Growth
The guided tour of the mill facility presented an overview of the paper industry in general and the various operations by the company.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The DS Smith Belisce paper mill in Osijek-Baranja County, Croatia showcased the latest innovations and sustainability commitments that make the operations unique. These were unveiled during the recent visit to the facility by His Excellency Simon Thomas OBE, British Ambassador to the Republic of Croatia.
The guided tour of the mill facility presented an overview of the paper industry in general and the various operations by the company. It outlined an ambitious energy usage plan, in line with the company’s Now and Next Strategy, aimed at reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

The visit highlighted the important role played by DS Smith operations in Croatia and reiterated the company’s ongoing commitment towards sustainability and innovations. Incidentally, Belisce mill is the leading paper producer in the country.
The importance of the integrated recycling, paper and packaging operations at the mill is evident from the fact that it could design, manufacture, collect and recycle sustainable packaging products across Croatia and entire Europe in 14-day cycle, noted Toni Bilic, General Manager, Belisce Paper Mill.
The recycling, paper and packaging operations at the Belisce mill employs nearly 750 people across the country.
