DS Smith Announced Substantial Progress in Top Global ESG Ratings

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): European packaging major, DS Smith, strengthened its credentials as a leader in sustainable packaging. The company announced notable progress in five leading corporate ESG ratings during the current year.
According to company press release, the company was placed on the prestigious ‘A List’ by global environmental not-for-profit charity CDP, in recognition of its efforts to protect valuable water resources. DS Smith was acknowledged as a leader on corporate environmental ambition and action through CDP’s annual environmental disclosure and scoring process. In addition, the company was able to increase its CDP Climate Change score from ‘B’ in the previous year to ‘A-‘ in 2021.

Earlier during the year, the company had gained ‘AA’ score from MSCI, up from ‘A’ during the previous year. It recorded notable improvement from ‘Gold’ to Platinum’ score from Ecovadis and from 51 points to 67 points on the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment. Also, it obtained a lower risk score from Sustainalytics.
Wouter van Tol, Head of Sustainability, Community and Government Affairs at DS Smith said that the company made substantial gains across various corporate ESG ratings. DS Smith will continue to focus on its sustainability targets, by making its business more circular, he added.
