SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Nestle Pure Life reached another important milestone in its sustainability journey by launching water bottles made of 100% recycled plastics. The innovation, which has already received safety approval from the European Union, is the first of its kind in Egypt.
The new water bottles includes a QR code on their labels, which when scanned will gets redirected to the website of Nestle Pure Life. The site offers additional information about the product as well as details about the company’s other livelihood improvement and sustainability initiatives. Also, Nestle Waters Egypt will install vending machines at high traffic venues, where customers would be allowed to drop off their used plastic bottles. The bottles thus collected will be transferred for recycling.
Commenting on the development, Rassem Dabbas, Business Executive Officer said that the launch of the rPET water bottle for the 1.5 liters in a shrink format in Egypt is part of its commitment to protect the environment. The move will continue to encourage a circular packaging system, which ensures collection and recycling of all plastic bottles. He called upon other industry players to come up with similar initiatives to support a better and sustainable future.
