Novelis to Invest in Oswego, New York Plant Upgrades
As per current plans, the investment project is expected to commence in spring 2022 and reach completion by 2024.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Novelis, Inc.- the leader in aluminum rolling and recycling announced that it has decided to invest approximately $130 million to upgrade its operations in Oswego, New York facility. The investment is in response to growing customer demand for sustainable, flat-rolled aluminum products and is expected to boost the hot mill capacity at the plant by 124,000 metric tons.
The investment aims to upgrade the plant’s hot reversing mill motors and drive train and hot finishing mill coolant systems. Furthermore, it will enhance the plant’s batch annealing capabilities, in addition to enhancing its energy-efficiency. The investment will result in increased intake of recycled aluminum and ensure increased recycled content across its products.
As per current plans, the investment project is expected to commence in spring 2022 and reach completion by 2024.
Tom Boney, EVP and President, Novelis North America said that the company aims to sustain and grow partnerships with its valued customers, by way of investing in modern, energy-efficient upgrades in Oswego facility. The upgrades will further strengthen the company’s ability to thrive in Oswego as a place to work and partner with the community, he added.
