DS Smith Introduced New Alternative Solution for Single-Use Plastics

Earlier, DS Smith had developed 100% recyclable intelligent cardboard solutions for Bulgarian egg distributor Akvilon-AM, in replacement of their plastic egg packaging.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Packaging leader DS Smith announced its decision to strengthen the partnership with a producer group located on the island of Noirmoutier. The partnership has developed a 100% recyclable corrugated board solution to replace single-use plastic.

La Coopérative Agricole de Noirmoutier- a group of producers of high quality potatoes had contacted DS Smith for replacing plastic bags for wrapping potatoes with alternative sustainable solution. DS Smith arranged a series of workshops to extract ideas from members of both the companies. The ideas collated from the workshop were passed on to designers, who in turn used their expertise in developing an innovative solution that ensures conservation and visibility of potatoes.

The environment friendly solution was developed in line with DS Smith’s Circular Design Principles and complies with the anti-waste law signed in France during end-January this year.
