Ohio-based PET Reclaimer to Boost rPET Production

Upon completion of the project, the food-grade RPET capacity will be doubled to 80 million pounds per year, said the company press release.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Clyde, Ohio-based PET reclaimer Evergreen Plastics announced its decision to expand its facility to significantly boost production of food-grade RPET. The ground-breaking of construction activities is scheduled to be held in early May this year.

Currently, the facility has capacity to produce up to about 40 million pounds per year of clear food-grade RPET for sale to outside customers. It processes around 100 million PET bales per year. The $22 million expansion project comprises installation of new extrusion line equipment and expansion of the existing building. Furthermore, the existing optical sorters will be upgraded by incorporating latest technology. Upon completion of the project, the food-grade RPET capacity will be doubled to 80 million pounds per year, said the company press release.

The expansion of the existing 238,000-square-foot building by additional 54,000 square feet will provide additional space for pelletizing. The new equipment has already been ordered. The building expansion is expected to be completed by Q4 this year, after which the installation of the new equipment will take place. The project is slated for mid-2022 completion.
