Nucor Enters New Agreement to Acquire Arkansas Paint Line Facility

The newly acquired facility is located near to Nucor’s sheet steel mill campus in Arkansas.

SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Charlotte, North Carolina-headquartered Nucor Corporation announced that it has entered into an asset purchase agreement with Precoat Metals Corporation. As per the agreement, Nucor will acquire the latter’s paint line facility located in Armorel, Arkansas.

The newly acquired facility is located near to Nucor’s sheet steel mill campus in Arkansas. It has a production capacity of approximately 250,000 tons per year. It must be noted that Nucor had earlier planned to build a greenfield paint line.

Troy Brooks, Vice President & General Manager of Nucor Steel Arkansas welcomed Armorel teammates to the Nucor family. The acquisition of this paint line has several advantages over building a new facility, he said. It will accelerate the company’s entry into the painted products market with existing capacity and an experienced team. It will diversify the company’s product mix and help it to launch new value-added products for customers. Moreover, it will transform the company as a direct supplier of pre-painted sheet products, Brooks added.

It must be noted that Nucor Steel Arkansas had recently completed construction of a new speciality cold mill complex.
