Paper Excellence Announces Curtailment of Operations at Mackenzie Pulp Mill
The company will continue to meet orders from its customers with production from its other mills in the B.C. and Saskatchewan.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Paper Excellence Canada announced its decision to curtail operations at Mackenzie, British Columbia pulp mill. The curtailment will be in effect until the end of June this year.
According to company press release, the negative impacts on pulp markets created by Covid-19 pandemic have created uncertainties, which in turn have raised concerns on the profitability of the mill operation. The mill’s competitiveness has also been affected by severe fibre shortage in the B.C. and Mackenzie regions. The above shortage was further worsened by recent curtailment of sawmills. The curtailment comes despite substantial investment by the company in improving mill operations and best efforts by its dedicated employees.
