IP Commits to Boost Sustainability Efforts
The company has put forward four key goals to be achieved by 2030.
SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): International Paper (IP) reiterated its commitment to boost the company’s ongoing sustainability efforts.
As part of the strategy, the company has appointed its first-ever chief sustainability officer. Sophie Beckam will lead the development and execution of the company’s sustainability strategy in line with the recently launched Vision 2030. She will focus on driving sustainability efforts that create value for its stakeholders, said Mark Sutton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, IP.
The company has put forward four key goals to be achieved by 2030. Apart from leading forest stewardship efforts globally, it aims to promote employee well-being by providing safe and inclusive workplaces. Further it targets to improve the company’s impact on climate and advance water stewardship. Also, it plans to launch innovative fiber-based products in order to accelerate its transition to a low-carbon economy.
International Paper repeated its commitment to achieve 35% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 2017 levels. Other sustainability goals include reduction of water usage by 25% and creation of innovative products that are 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable, which the company says will be achieved in collaboration with the entire value chain.
