Police Arrests Hacker for Bitcoin Deal

For the first time in the state, Queensland police has arrested Kingaroy man Shane Duffy, who is accused of hacking a US-based gaming network and selling player information to the highest bidder for nearly $110,000 worth of the Bitcoins.

NEW YORK (Scrap Monster): For the first time in the state, Queensland police has arrested Kingaroy man Shane Duffy, who is accused of hacking a US-based gaming network and selling player information to the highest bidder for nearly $110,000 worth of the Bitcoins.

According to the Police report, Mr Duffy hacked the League of Legends game network database between July 14 and July 26 last year.

On Tuesday, the police arrested Mr Duffy in Hervey Bay and charged with possessing tainted property.

Bitcoins are digital money created as a reward for payment processing work in which users offer their computing power to verify and record payments into the public ledger. Called mining, individuals or companies engage in this activity in exchange for transaction fees and newly created bitcoins.
