BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal buying benchmarks were unchanged on the ScrapMonster Price Index on Friday, September 25, 2026, with no daily movement recorded across copper, aluminum, steel, stainless steel or brass/bronze.

The quiet session followed two days of declines in copper and a partial pullback in stainless steel, leaving Friday as a consolidation session rather than the start of a new directional move.

SCRAPMONSTER EDGE

Friday's flat copper market leaves part of Tuesday's rally intact. #1 Copper Bare Bright and #1/#2 Copper Wire and Tubing gained CNY 1,100/MT on September 22, then fell CNY 300/MT on both September 23 and September 24 before holding steady Friday. Across the four-session sequence, those major clean grades remain CNY 500/MT higher.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices held steady after declines during the previous two sessions.

#1 Copper Bare Bright, #1 Copper Wire and Tubing and #2 Copper Wire and Tubing were all → unchanged.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire with 50% Recovery also recorded no movement.

Copper Transformer Scrap, Cu Yokes and Cu/Al Radiators held steady.

Harness Wire with 35% Recovery and Heater Cores were unchanged.

Copper Benchmark Check

China's domestic copper futures benchmark was equally quiet.

SHFE copper stood at CNY 110,700/MT on September 25, unchanged from September 24.

Scrap/futures read: Chinese copper scrap and the domestic futures benchmark both paused after the preceding sessions' volatility, providing little fresh directional signal heading into the next trading period.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

Aluminum scrap prices remained unchanged across all listed grades.

6063 Extrusions and Aluminum Ingots held steady.

Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers also recorded no price movement.

E.C. Aluminum Wire, Old Cast, Old Sheet, UBC and Zorba 90% INF were all → unchanged.

201 SS, 304 SS Solid, 304 SS Turning and 309 SS were unchanged.

310 SS and 316 SS Solid also remained flat.

Shred SS recorded no variation on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

Brass Radiator, Red Brass and Yellow Brass all remained → flat.

Market Read

The September 25 Chinese scrap market was a consolidation session across all five major tracked categories.

Copper deserves the most attention because Friday's flat reading followed two consecutive CNY 300/MT declines in the major clean grades. Even so, those declines only partially reversed the CNY 1,100/MT surge recorded on September 22, leaving the grades CNY 500/MT higher across the four-session sequence.

Stainless steel also stabilized after selected grades moved lower on September 24, while aluminum, steel and brass/bronze continued to provide no fresh price signal.

The unchanged SHFE copper benchmark reinforced the lack of new directional momentum in China's copper market on Friday.
