Chinese Scrap Metal Prices Rise, Copper and Brass Gains on the Index– September 22, 2026

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers were unchanged on the Index.

Summary

Copper Scrap Prices Surge Broadly
Copper scrap prices recorded the strongest movement on the September 22 ScrapMonster Price Index. Bare Bright and #1/#2 Copper Wire and Tubing each increased by CNY 1,100 per MT, while several insulated wire, radiator and other grades also advanced.
Brass/Bronze Prices Move Higher
Brass and bronze scrap prices registered modest gains across the reported grades. Brass Radiator increased by CNY 100 per MT, while Red Brass and Yellow Brass each climbed CNY 200 per MT.
Aluminum, Steel and Stainless Steel Remain Stable
Aluminum scrap prices showed no changes across the listed grades, including 6063 Extrusions, UBC and Zorba. Steel and stainless steel scrap prices also remained unchanged, indicating a largely stable market outside copper and brass/bronze.

BEIJING (Scrap Monster): Chinese scrap metal prices recorded modest gains on the ScrapMonster Price Index as of Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Copper: Broad-based surge
Aluminum: Witnessed no change
Brass/Bronze: Widespread increase
Stainless Steel: Recorded no variation
Steel: Stable / unchanged

Copper and brass/bronze scrap prices rose compared to the previous day, while steel, stainless steel, and aluminum scrap prices remained steady on the Index.

Copper Scrap Prices

Copper scrap prices saw broad-based gains on the Index.

#1 Copper Bare Bright and #1 Copper Wire and Tubing both surged by CNY 1,100 per MT compared to the previous day. Also, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing rose by CNY 1,100 per MT.

#1 Insulated Copper Wire with 85% recovery climbed CNY 550 per MT, and #2 Insulated Copper Wire (50% recovery) recorded an increase of CNY 200 per MT.

Copper Transformer scrap prices were flat compared with the previous day’s prices.

Cu Yokes reported a jump of CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Cu/Al Radiator scrap jumped CNY 200 per MT, while Harness Wire (35% recovery) inched up CNY 50 per MT.

Heater Cores gained CNY 450 per MT, whereas Scrap Electric Motors and Sealed Units prices saw an increase of CNY 50 per MT on the Index.

Aluminum Scrap Prices

6063 Extrusions witnessed no variation in prices over the previous day.

Aluminum Ingots prices also remained steady, without any change.

The prices of Aluminum Radiators and Aluminum Transformers were unchanged on the Index.

E.C Aluminum Wire prices were flat over the previous day.

Old Cast and Old Sheet prices reported no fluctuation on the Index.

Also, UBC and Zorba 90% INF prices held steady from the previous day’s price.

Steel Scrap Prices

#1 HMS prices held steady on the Index.

Cast Iron Scrap reported no change in prices.

Stainless Steel Scrap Prices

201 SS: Saw no variation on the Index
304 SS Solid: Held steady
304 SS Turning: Recorded no change
309 SS: Flat trend

310 SS prices were unchanged on the Index.

316 SS Solid prices recorded no variation over the previous day’s prices.

Also, Shred SS prices held steady on the Index.

Brass/Bronze Scrap Prices

The Brass/Bronze Scrap prices in China recorded a modest increase over the previous day’s prices.

Brass Radiator: Increased by CNY 100 per MT
Red Brass: Edged higher by CNY 200 per MT
Yellow Brass: Up by CNY 200 per MT
