TJN Enterprises breaks ground on new Rice Street metal recycling facility
Sioux Falls based TJN Enterprises broke ground on a new scrap metal recycling facility east side of Rice Street
WASHINGTON (Scrap Monster) : Sioux Falls based TJN Enterprises broke ground on a new scrap metal recycling facility east side of Rice Street, just north of Great Bear Recreation Area in Sioux Falls on Thursday, Oct. 3,2013.
The new 20-acre site will allow the company to separate, process and ship a wide array of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap products by truck or rail. TJN Enterprises estimates the total investment to range between $10 million and $15 million. Once operational, the facility is expected to create 60 jobs in the region. The construction is anticipated to complete by early fall of 2014.
The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by Mayor Mike Huether amongst others.
TJN Enterprises, formed in 1989 by Toby Shine, Norman and Jack Bernstein is a joint venture between Shine Bros. Corp. of Spencer, IA and Sioux City Compressed Steel of Sioux City, IA. Today, TJN Enterprises has grown to six locations spread across three states-Sioux Falls,SD; Worthington,MN; Estherville,IA; Watertown,SD; Yankton,SD and Aberdeen,SD. The company is involved in Wire Chopping, off-site processing of auto bodies, tin, wire and other scrap metal, bailing and briquetting of nonferrous scrap, bailing and logging of obsolete ferrous scrap and shredding of nonferrous and ferrous scrap.
