SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): North American precious metal scrap prices advanced sharply during the July 31–August 6, 2026 period, with both hallmarked and non-hallmarked gold, silver, and platinum registering gains on the ScrapMonster Price Index.

Hallmarked Precious Metals Market

Hallmarked gold scrap prices posted notable weekly gains, with healthy demand and supportive market fundamentals pushing valuations higher across various purity grades, according to the ScrapMonster Price Index. Consistent buying from leading recycling channels underpinned the market throughout the week.

Fourteen-carat scrap gold registered a notable increase of $53.94 per ounce, reflecting improving consumption trends and renewed market confidence. Eighteen-carat grades outperformed, rising by $69.15 per ounce over the same period, supported by sustained trading activity.

A modest price appreciation was recorded in 22-carat scrap gold, which increased by $84.46 per pound, highlighting heightened preference for higher-purity material among buyers. Weekly price movements for 22-carat hallmarked gold are illustrated in the accompanying chart.



Lower-purity material also benefitted from the broader bullish sentiment, with 9-carat scrap gold advancing approximately 2.32 percent on a week-on-week basis.

Across the wider precious metals scrap complex, silver prices surged, climbing 5.53 percent from $43.73 per ounce. Platinum followed suit, recording a solid 6.27 percent weekly gain, reinforcing the overall strength seen across the precious metals recycling market.

Non-Hallmarked Precious Metals Market

Gold scrap prices strengthened across major purity brackets during the week, driven by sustained buying activity and supportive market fundamentals. Fourteen-carat material posted a robust gain of $51.00 per ounce, while 18-carat and 22-carat grades recorded steady advances of $65.39 and $79.86 per ounce, respectively. Even lower-grade 9-carat scrap mirrored the positive momentum, rising 2.32 percent on a week-on-week basis.

Silver scrap also climbed significantly, delivering a strong upswing over the period. Prices surged 5.50 percent during the week, rising by $2.31 per ounce from the previous week’s opening level of $42.00 per ounce, as highlighted in the accompanying chart.


Platinum scrap emerged as a standout performer, registering a strong weekly increase of 6.27 percent. The rally underscores improving market confidence and renewed procurement interest across the broader precious metals scrap landscape.
