SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): The former Hibbert Lumber hardware store site at 500-512 G Street is slated to become housing and is moving through the city's building permit process. The developer has hired Brown Construction to build a five-story, multi-family building, totaling 239 residential units.
The Fire Department will use the site for a training from July 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be fire vehicles there and theatrical smoke will be in use.
Demolition activities are scheduled to begin on or about July 13 and are expected to last approximately five weeks through Aug. 14.
Grading activities are scheduled to begin on or about Aug. 17 and are expected to last approximately two weeks through Aug. 31.
Construction activities will generally take place during the day, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, at times the General Contractor may need to work later than 5 p.m., which is permitted under the Davis municipal code.
Residents and business staff may notice increased noise and dust during construction activities, and the city of Davis has required the contractor, Brown Construction, to undertake measures to lessen the noise level and mitigate dust.
The sidewalk along the north side of 5th Street between the railroad tracks and G Street will be closed for the duration of the project. Sixth Street between G Street and the railroad tracks will be closed during construction hours.
